DELTA-8 THC FLOWER – How does it work?

Cannabis science has reached a new level; along with that comes new methods of producing Cannabis products – Including Delta-8 THC Flower. At THE Dispensary we have been receiving a lot of questions about the multiple strains of flower we carry at our locations – let us explain.

Delta-8 THC Flower NEEDS to be Hemp Flower

If you are in a non-legal Marijuana State, the only way to have legal Delta-8 THC Flower is by using Hemp Flower (CBD Flower). This is because Delta-8 THC does not occur in high levels in Cannabis. Further, you cannot have high levels of Delta-8 THC without the Delta-9 THC levels also rising to non-legal limits – above 0.3% Delta-9 THC would be considered Marijuana. So how do we have Delta-8 THC Flower??

THE Delta-8 THC Process

CBD is converted to Delta-8 THC through a process called isomerization. (*Note: Through the 2018 Farm Bill ALL isomers of Cannabis, besides DELTA-9 THC, were federally legalized – read more here). Isomerization is simply the process of rearranging components to convert it to another component. Both CBD and Delta-8 THC are natural isomers of Cannabis so this would not be considered a synthetic! After the Delta-8 THC material is converted; it is then refined to very high percentages through a distillation process. At THE Dispensary we have tested our Delta-8 THC Distillate at 99%!

The Distillate is then infused into the Hemp/CBD flower that was discussed above. This can be done through a few different methods including: lightly spraying the distillate onto the flower, dipping the flower, or creating a solid Delta-8 THC version and “dusting” the flower.

Because Hemp/CBD Flower is not very potent in terms of aroma or flavor, we also add natural Cannabis terpenes to the flower and distillate to emulate the same aroma and flavor of all the well-known strains we have grown to love.

We now have Delta-8 THC Flower in the following strains!

  • Runtz

  • Blueberry Donut

  • Clementine

  • OG Kush

  • Gelato

  • Sour Pebblez

  • Cookies

  • Super Lemon Haze

  • Zkittles

  • Strawberry Cough

How Does it Compare?

Delta-8 THC Flower is limited because of the way that it must be processed. Adding too much distillate to the Hemp/CBD flower will leave the buds overly wet and sticky, so the THC percentage is limited. If you are an avid smoker, the flower will be less potent than traditional flower but it can still get you to where you want to be.

A big benefit in selecting the Delta-8 THC Flower is that you will be harnessing the entourage effect – where multiple Cannabis compounds work together to collectively give better effects. The entourage effect mixed with different terpenes give our strains small differences all with similar Delta-8 THC percentages. Although this may seem like a negative to Delta-8, it is proving to be a positive. The decreased potency makes this product useful for beginners and people who are sensitive to THC; while still keeping the medicinal properties.

WEED RESPONSIBLY

Delta-8 THC Flower is very similar to traditional Delta-9 THC Flower (Marijuana) and is a great option for non-legal states. We should look to use Delta-8 THC as a steppingstone in the right direction and push to use this product responsibly – WEED RESPONSIBLY.
